7bit AirPoint – M

Wireless telemetry module with data transmission via Lora radio channel

The 7bit AirPoint wireless standalone module is used to transmit discrete or analog signals and data from devices with communication interfaces via the Lora radio channel. To receive this data, a 7bit AirGate gateway must be used, which converts the data received via the Lora radio channel from multiple AirPoint modules into MQTT protocol packets and transmits them further to an MQTT broker (server) in a local network or the Internet.

Applications
  • Collection of telemetry data at utility facilities, survey of metering devices
  • Connect signals to automation or monitoring systems from remote systems and devices.
  • Various monitoring and automation systems
Functions overview

In general, the system consists of one or more wireless, stand-alone 7Bit Airpoint radio modules and 7Bit Airgate data gateway(s) that receive messages over the radio channel and transmit them to any upper-level system, such as a WebHMI, SCADA second or cloud-based IoT platforms such as : Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and others, over a local network or over the Internet, using the MQTT protocol.

Depending on the configuration selected when ordering, the module can perform the following functions:

  • Read the status of discrete signals (2 pcs.). These can be pressure switches, flood sensors, door openers, etc.
  • Measure analog parameters – level, pressure, flow. For this purpose, the module has 2 analog inputs 0-10V, as well as a power supply for the sensors. It is also possible to power 4 … 20m sensors with this source.
  • Count the consumption of resources using counting inputs (this function is performed by discrete inputs)
  • Poll metering devices (or other devices) via a digital interface – RS-485/Mbus/TTL and collect any data, not only resource consumption

In order to save battery power, the main mode of operation of the device is the standby mode, when the processor consumes minimal power. At the signal of the internal timer, the device turns on, performs the necessary measurements or polls the digital bus, transmits the data to the Lora channel, and then goes into standby mode again. To test the module, a special button is provided on the printed circuit board, after pressing which the module performs these actions immediately. To identify data from multiple devices in the upper-level data collection system, the module adds its Id (hardware address) to the data packet.
